For All These Things

I live in a part of the world where we average sunshine just 50% of the time.  Given that we tend to enjoy lots of sunshine during the summer (summers in WNY can be truly spectacular) it means our winters are long and dreary.  Going for days without a peek of sun is normal, going weeks is not out of the question.  To be honest it’s not lots of fun.  I wonder if that has something to do with the overall negative tone I’ve observed in the culture around here.  Of course there are lots of other reasons that probably play into that equation too.

So Spring’s arrival is a wonderful event.  Even though the amount of sunshine may not improve dramatically it’s there more often and the heart sings a little when it is.

I’m looking forward to Spring (no it hasn’t arrived yet.  The equinox has come and gone but it’s still winter here).  I’m looking forward to sunshine.

For that I am truly thankful.
