Need to take at least a minute to note the passing of one of the great voices for and about movies of the last several decades. Most of us came to know the velvet voice of Robert Osborne from his work on Turner Classic Movies.
In a day and age when the focus is on the new, Osborne was a great advocate for the century of brilliant movie making that serves as a foundation for today’s Hollywood. Needless to say, he was a special favorite here at TVFTP.
His career began as an actor and then grew into one of the premier historians of the industry. What resonated most with me was that his work on TCM was clearly NOT just a paycheck. The passion he had for the movies showed through every minute he was on the screen.
The movies have lost a friend, and advocate and chronicler.
