(Quick looks at newer movies)
The Huntsman – Winter’s War (2016) – A sequel/prequel to 2012’s “Snow White and the Huntsman”, beautiful visuals and a solid cast can’t make up for a slow, predictable and dull script. There is not a single moment of this movie I’d like to see again, and it features Charlize Theron! Move along, nothing to see here.
Only the beauty of the cinematography keeps this from a one star.
Rating – ** Not Impressed
The Interpreter (2005) – An interpreter at the United Nations overhears a possible assassination attempt on a visiting leader. Along with the Secret Service, she will try to find the threat and stay alive. Sydney Pollack directs Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn in this political thriller. The leads do a nice job with a script that has a few problems. Pollock keeps the action flowing, which ends up saving the day.
Rating – *** Worth A Look
Dr.Strange (2016) – The newest Marvel Universe movie offers a decidedly more in-depth and grown up style of comic book movie. Benedict Cumberbatch is wonderful in the lead role. The whole movie strikes just the right balance between action and thoughtfulness. Really enjoyed it.
