Quick Reviews – Free State of Jones, Mockingjay Part 2, Rupture

Free State of Jones (2016) – Fascinating look at a little known part of Civil War history.  Cast does nice job with a rather plodding script.  There’s a subplot set in in the 1940s that could have been completly eliminated.  Matthew McConaughey does fine in a rather subdued performance.

 The Hunger Games – Mockingjay Part 2 (2016) – The movie series expires with neither a bang nor a whimper but more of a “Meh”.  Tries too hard for something profound and comes up short.

Rupture (2016) – A triumph of style over substance.  Slow, boring, set up more as a television show than a feature film, the movie is pointless.  A pretty good cast is wasted on a script that has no particularly interesting or novel ideas.
