The Conspirator, Water Diviner, Wonder Woman

(Some quick looks are more recent movies)

The Conspirator (2010) – A look at the trial of alleged Lincoln assassination conspirator Mary Surratt, and the perversion of American justice that surrounded it.  Robert Redford directs a great cast in a historical rather than mythological version of the story.  The movie is rather slow-moving because it wants to stick to the history.

Rating – *** Worth A Look

The Water Diviner (2016) – An Australian farmer returns to Gallipoli after WWI to search for his three sons’ bodies.  A weak script and a rookie director (Crowe) are more than balanced by a wonderful cast performance, with Russell Crowe leading the way on-screen.  Gets better as it goes along.

Rating – *** Worth A Look

Wonder Woman (2016) – Visually beautiful and Gail Gadot is wonderful, but a little slow at the start.  I came away feeling Wonder Woman deserved a little more.  Which is surprising considering how good the movie was.  My expectations may have been too high.

Rating – **** Recommended
