Thor Ragnarok, Atomic Blonde, Concussion

Thor – Ragnarok (2017) – Is the movie fun?  Sure.  Does it show much in the way of character growth or any particular depth of story?  Not really.  I’ve read a couple pieces that try and show that there’s some deep stuff here, but I didn’t see it (and still don’t).  Watch it once, enjoy and never feel the need to go back.

Atomic Blonde (2017) – Cold War spy thriller – check.  Charlize Theron – check.  Visually gorgeous action – check.  The movie suffers from a style over storytelling problem that leaves the whole thing rather flat and lifeless.

Concussion (2015) – The stunning story of the man who forced the NFL to face the issue of traumatic brain injury and its effects.  Close ties to Pittsburgh made this especially hard-hitting.  Will Smith is brilliant.
