I want to increase the volume of my shared creativity here this year. I show a lot of my writing here, but not always the other things that are core to my creative life. In 2025, you will see more writing, more photography, more watercolor painting, and maybe even a bit of music. Those are my areas of emphasis. I hope you’ll find something positive in these additions.
I haven’t gotten out with my camera as yet this year. I’m not a fan of slogging around in the snow and cold. I know I’m missing some amazing opportunities, but it is what it is. Here are several of my favorite shots from last year.
In the summer, my lady wife and I visited the Outer Banks for the first time. It was everything we’d hoped for! It also gave me a chance to photograph one of my favorite sights, a lighthouse. This is the 1872 Bodie Island Lighthouse. We got there too late in the day for me to climb it. Something to look forward to next time!

Also in the summer, I explored my yard and neighborhood. I found some amazing blossoms waiting for me.

Fall arrives and a subject that has fascinated me for years arrives with it. The brilliant and textured leaves of autumn. These were in the grass behind the football field near my school. I love the colors and textures of the leaves against the grass, moss, and other detritus of the ground.

Looking at each of them, I see places they could be better. The framing isn’t quite right; the focus is soft, et cetera. But they are a fair representation of where I am right now. I hope you enjoy them. My wish is that if you’re a photographer, they may inspire you to continue to explore and grow as well. I may even get out and do some winter shots!
Peace
