Richmond From Above

When the time comes for a photo ramble, I find more productivity if there is a prompt or a theme. As with any such creative device, it can be as tight or loose as you choose. My prompt this time started pretty tight but loosened a bit as I wandered.

It was one of the few only cool days in January that I snuck in a photo ramble in Richmond. Temps were in the 50s, the sun was out and there was no breeze. It felt like Spring! My challenge was deciding where to shoot, along with a prompt. I chose a section of the Fan neighborhood (for non-RVA folk, it’s an older neighborhood that is shaped like a fan. Lots of cool houses and stuff). In short order, I spotted the brightly painted utility cover and had my prompt, too! I spend a lot of time looking up, so today I’d look DOWN. It started as below my feet, but quickly became below my knees. There were too many cool photos waiting just above the ground!

The first image below my feet that grabbed my attention. Loved the contrast between the paint and the general grunge all around it.
Irresistible! Yes, I know this is bad for the sidewalk, but your heart needs to grow a little if this doesn’t charm you at least a little.
Those early flowers are always such optimists about the weather. Less than two weeks later and it’s snowing again.
Couldn’t resist the blue in this puddle reflection.
There’s something about the colors and textures of images like this one that I can’t resist.

It was a pretty good day, I think!

Peace
