A Brief Pause

There has been a lot of things going on in my life over the last several months.  My backlog of posts has carried me along, but it’s time to take a moment.  This blog will be quiet for the rest of the month of July.  The good news is that it won’t go completely dark and that I will be back in full force in August.

This was me 4 months ago!

For the writer’s out there, what’s happened is simple.  My writing, online commitments, and life all grew without a plan.  Earlier this year, it became clear that the lack of structure was going to bury me.  Add in fun details like a major household move (is there such a thing as a minor household move?), ongoing under-employment and just a taste of mild depression and you find a nasty dish on your plate.  So while this blog has been burning through the inventory of posts, I’ve been bringing as much order and structure to my world as I can.

And it seems to be working!

Right now I am –

  • Finishing up on my next book!  I hope to have details available next month.
  • Working on a new backlog of posts.  I don’t need to feel like I’m under the lash of a looming deadline every week.
  • Trying to spin back into some new writing.  This includes both fiction and non-fiction pieces.
  • Creating a core concept for this blog.  It’s been several things in its existence.  This will become a writer’s blog.  It will be about books, writing and being a writer.  At least, being THIS writer.  So it will deal with all the other issues that impinge on the process.  Like real-life stuff.  So not just the promotional “I’m a writer, buy my stuff”, but also “this is what worked this week/month/year and this is what got in the way”.  Writers are not robots, nor are we fictional.  Real people, real issues.

So, I’m asking for a bit of patience.  Please feel free to check in on past posts, both here and at my movie and media blog, The View From The Phlipside.   You can also check out my homepage at JDPhillippi.com.

I’m looking forward to getting back at it.  So far things are settling in nicely!
