Fyre Fraud (2019) One of two documentaries (the other is “Fyre“) that came out almost simultaneously about the headline-making music festival. Promised to be a high-end, ultimate experience festival, the promoters lack experience doomed the project from the beginning. Nothing went right, millions of dollars were lost/defrauded, and the festival entered into legend as one of the greatest frauds(?) of all time. Hulu’s documentary is a fascinating, step-by-step examination of the entire fiasco. In the end, it’s not clear who was conning whom among the organizers. For the viewer, it’s a jaw-dropping display of tragicomic excess and irresponsibility.
I only knew the story in passing. The more I watched, the more I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen.

Becoming Bond (2017) – I’ve been a huge Bond fan since I was a teen. Read the books and seen the On Her Majesty’s Secret Service“. Or that the movie version is faithful to the original. But the story behind Lazenby getting the role, making a hit movie, then walking away from the fame and fortune is fascinating in and of itself.
movies. While Sean Connery and Daniel Craig are my favorite 007s, I’ve always felt that George Lazenby deserves more credit for his single appearance as the British secret agent. It doesn’t hurt that he appears in the movie version of my favorite book, “
An Australian auto mechanic who fell into being a top model and then was handed one of the most popular movie characters of the day, Lazenby’s story reads like fiction. The documentary offers insight into who he was and why he chose to leave it all behind. Lazenby comes off as a nice guy who rides the wave of good luck till it bores him. Then he walks away. A must-see for Bond fans.
Why I Liked It – A story that has it all, sex, booze, fame, good fortune. And a truly nice guy at the center of it all.
