Things Kind of Blew Up

If you’re glancing at this blog for the first time in a while (because it’s been a hot minute or six since my last post), you may wonder what happened. There are now a LOT more posts here than before.

No, I did not go on a writing binge.

I have been “off the air” (to borrow a phrase from a previous part of my life) because I’ve been overwhelmed by life, the universe, and everything. My attempt at solving this begins with simplification. It dawned on me that if you asked me why I have two blogs, I couldn’t offer a simple answer. I have two blogs because I’ve had two blogs for a decade or more. The older of the two was “The View From the Phlipside”, originally a personal blog, then an adjunct to my decade long public radio program/podcast of the same name, then mostly a place for my movie reviews to go. Upon reflection, it feels like that blog has run its course.

But, there was a lot of writing there, including some 700+ movie reviews, that I didn’t want to lose. A few years ago, I looked at importing all those posts into this blog. I couldn’t find an obvious way. To be honest I gave up pretty quickly. Last week I tried again. An answer popped up immediately. Did I miss it last time? Did I quit too fast? Or did an upgrade happen?

Don’t know. Honestly, don’t care.

Over two thousand posts and files were imported in less than a quarter hour. All my stuff, all in one place. I haven’t begun to really dig in yet to make sure it was a clean transfer, but the early checks are perfect!

Here’s the plan as of the moment I type this (literally making this up as I go): All my blogging will be done here. Movies, books, creativity, personal. Will that make this more cluttered? That’s one way of looking at it, but my creative life is filled with a lot of “stuff”. It’s a bit cluttered, so this is the most honest approach for me.

I hope it works for you, because it’s going to be soooo much better for me.
